Happy New Year....atlast!

How can a person get to the middle of the month in a blink of an eye?? Work at camp!!
Since our facility is year round we are busy. Lots of people and lots of winter activities.
We have just finished our camp hosted Father/Son retreat.(Which was the 4th group this year) The "Under Construction" theme was motivated by the current renovation projects and even the dining hall was transformed with caution/attention tape everywhere and tool displays and blueprints found on every wall. There was a construction relay challenge on Sat. pm and lots of snowmobiling, broomball, tubing, ice fishing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and hockey all weekend. David put on skates and took up the challenge of playing hockey.....first time in over 20 yrs...sure a few muscles were feeling it the next day, but he's found himself enjoying the outdoor rink a few times now, and will probably continue through the winter. Needless to say with all that activity the men were good and ready to eat at meal times.
Winter is a very busy season at Red Rock. There are 16 more meal plans/groups coming in between now and the end of Feb. Whew!! The average school group through the week is 35-75 students and weekend groups are usually around 60-95people.
We are continuing to adapt to the change of lifestyle here in Manitoba. The weather has dropped cold again. It was -28 degrees thismorning...nice and crisp! We are thankful to have a cozy home to settle into at the end of each workday.
We will be headed into Steinbach at the end of the month for a follow up Dr's appointment. David has been feeling much better on medication, but still wants to see what the good ole Doc has to say. Thanks to all who have been remembering us in prayer. Here are a few more prayer requests:
1. Please pray that we would soon develop the sense of "belonging" here. We do love it here and know this is where God wants us to be...but we miss friends and family very much.
2. Pray for safety on the cabin work project. Every time it snows the work is slippery and harder....and when it's cold the guys feel it!
3. Pray for strength and stamina to get us through the next 6 weeks. They are very long days in the kitchen for Sonya and her head cook.
